Long overdue

Posting food pictures has been long over due but here I am.

But first a lovely pic of Brett from the Jets game I was at this weekend!

This morning I woke up and ran 3 miles on the treadmill, busted out 30 minutes on the elliptical, lifted abs for 15 minutes and arms for 15 minutes.

I refueled at work with coffee, oatmeal and a banana.

I still need some oatmeal to go ideas. This is so simple and tasty to heat up at work, but I know that making my own would be much easier. I definitely want to stick with oatmeal though- my office has no insulation so I really need the warm oats to heat me up! I wear a coat almost all day at work- how ridiculous is that?!

Lunch was leftover chicken (just sauteed in some white wine) with a Steamer bag of carrots and broc.

dsci0178

I reallllly liked these vegetables. They are seasoned, but since they are one of the steamer bags they don’t have any gross and unhealthy butter sauce on them. They were quite tasty- and you can’t beat a 4 minute microwave heat up. I will definitely be taking these to work some more.

Mid afternoon I needed my snack of a golden delicious apple and a fruit salad with pineapple, and red & green grapes. I’m planning on having the other half of the fruit salad with some yogurt for dessert ; )

About an hour later I decided I was going to go to the gym straight from work to try out the Bosu Bootcamp class. I used to take a Bosu class at Rowan University and I absolutely loved it! I wasn’t sure how much fuel I would need for the 45 minute class so I decided to play it safe and eat a Clif Z bar to hold me over.

dsci0172

The class ended up lasting an hour (thank goodness I ate the Clif bar) and it was really enjoyable. I joined this gym for a trial month just to see if I like it (and because the month was free). I like exercising on my own but I have really missed the fun that comes from group exercise classes. I hope to take full advantage of my membership the next month. But anyway, the class involved differents steps, squats and jumps on the bosu ball. It also incorporated abs, pushups, jump roping, jumping jacks, and a body bar. I think it was great overall but I have to admit I felt like it was not challenging enough for me. The only time I really felt tired was when we used the jump rope for extended periods of time. But I have to wait for an honest opinion when I wake up and see how sore my legs are tomorrow!!

I was ravenous when I came home and enjoyed a turkey taco and a big turkey taco salad with taco meat, salsa, ranch dressing and some cheddar cheese. I definitely went back for another salad after this big one!

Tmoneys Bday today, turkey day tomorrow

My little brother is officially 18!! I feel bad that this year his bday fell before turkey day because everyone is so preoccupied with thanksgiving preparations around here he doesn’t get full attention. BUT he is lucky he gets to celebrate again tomorrow with all of our fam!

This morning I was determined to set out on a run despite any cold weather. I did 20 minutes of abs, 10 minutes lifting legs, and bundled up. I ate this before I ran, and wasn’t the biggest fan. Probably my least favorite Clif bar flavor yet…I wish I didn’t buy two of them.

dsci0027

After my 6 mile run I had two cups of steaming hot coffee to warm me and my hands up! Then I ate a yummy bowl of cereal because I think its the best mix of protein and carbs for after long runs. Today’s concotion was a banana, skim milk, PB Puffins, Oatmeal Squares and Cinnamon Life. And i definitelyyyyyy went back for another bowl of Puffins. They are so addicting and fabulous.

dsci0028

I was a busy girl around the house today, cleaning and baking. Before I knew it my stomach was grumbling and handfuls of Puffins were not enough to hold me over. I decided to make a spinach omeltte with 1 egg, two egg whites and some steamed spinach. I also had spinach and salsa on the side.

dsci0029

Mid snack was some tea and a golden delicious apple (don’t mind my nails I def am painting them tomorrow! lol)

dsci0031

It is tradition on our birthdays to either pick out where we want to eat or what we want made for us. My brother decided on P.J. Whelihans a popular pub chain in our area. I absolutely love the sandwiches, burgers and crab fries here but I usually enjoy those things over a beer. Since tonight I only had a few sips of my dad’s Sam Adam’s Winterfest, I decided I didn’t need a bready/greasy meal and wanted to try out the restaurant’s salads since I never had one. I got the Mediteranean chicken salad because it looked healthiest but asked for it without olives, cheese and to put the dressing on the side. It was huuuuuuuuge! I felt liek I was eating forever and I still have a takeout box left of salad.

dsci00322

You can’t see it all but it was grilled chicken on top of romaine with radishes, chickpeas, red onion, red and green peppers, cherry tomoatoes and strong beans. Can you say DELICIOUS?! I was stuffed after eating this but felt like it was one of the healthiest salads I have found at a restaurant. I did manage to sneak a few fries into my mouth from my mom’s crab cake sandwich platter. We were all happy with our meals which is typical for PJs.

When we got home of course we had to have birthday cake freshly baked from Gallo’s bakery plus a cup of coffee. Isn’t it beautiful?!

dsci00342

My mom gave me a huge piece and I ate probably 1/3 of it…mostly the chocolate icing and crunchies of the top and side of the cake. This gave me a huge sugar rush and I was craving serious food but instead of eating the rest of my cake (since there are 4 desserts I want tomorrow!) I decided on a Clif Z brownie bar and a few chocolate covered cranberries. This was all that was left of my Clif bar when I decided to snap the pic:

Told you I was hungry!!

The rest of my night has consisted of baking:

Homemade reeses bars:

Pumpkin cookies with cinnamon frosting (no picture yet)

And spinach artichoke dip:

dsci0036

Recipes to come soon, I promise! Tomorrow I am making a buffalo chicken dip I found on Frank’s Red Hot website. They have a ton of recipes…I was shocked!

All right time to enjoy some tea and get ready for a big day tomorrow. I hope its warm enough to squeeze in another run- exercise is always a great way to start a day you know you will be eating alot. Hope turkey day treats everyone well…can’t wait to see how everyone spends this holiday.

Back to reality

Sunday nights are my least favorite part of the weekend. I hate the thought of getting back to work and my typical routine. But at least I have Thanksgiving to look forward to this week…and all of the preparations and baking that comes along with it : )

So on the way home from AC we grabbed Dunkin Donuts. I had a medium coffee and they put cream and sugar in. It was gross- I used to drink it with cream all the time but now I really prefer the taste of just milk. Oh well, coffee still hit the spot. Since I really don’t like to waste a splurge type of breakfast like a breakfast sandwich someplace crappy like Dunkin Donuts (hellllllo real bagel shops!) I decided to just have a Luna Smores bar till I got home and could fix myself something more decent. This is my second favorite flavor Luna bar, with peppermint stick in 1st, caramel brownie at 3, and yucky chocolate raspberry in last. I just got some more flavors to try so I will update the rankings- while I like plain Clif bars better, the nutritional stats on these are really just what I am looking for and perfect for me being a woman!

dsci00092

Once I got home I decided that some goldfish, an apple, and whole wheat sandwich with almond butter and raspberry preserves was really just what I was in the mood for.

dsci0010a

I wasn’t hungry for lunch since I ate at weird times today so I just had a banana, some tea, and a yoplait yogurt while watching the Giants game (which they won!!!!! Big win G-Men).

dsci00111

Dinner was two meatballs with parm cheese, steamed brocolli, and a salad with red onion and fat free ranch dressing. I didn’t eat all my second meatball but I went back for seconds of the brocolli and salad. After yesterday’s chicken sandwich and turkey sandwich I was just a little meated out.

dsci0012a

Now I am catching up on blogs, enjoying some South Beach chocolate pudding and a mixture of PB Puffins, chocolate chips, pb chips, cocoa puffs, and Honey Bunnies before I get ready for work and bed. Hope it was a fabulous weekend for everyone…

dsci0013

I heart tacos

I love love turkey tacos. They are so delicious and easy to prepare. I always treat myself to one or two tacos and then make a big taco salad with lots of salsa and a little lite ranch dressing. It was delicious and filling- just what I needed!

dsci00011

After dinner I rowed for 20 minutes while catching up on last weeks Always Sunny in Philadelphia- I am obsessed with this show. Its not as funny as Seinfeld but its the only show thats gotten somewhat close!

Now I am enjoying some Annie’s Honey Bunnies, tea, and a “trail mix” that started out as Cinnamon Life and Quaker Squares and ended up with lots of “chips”- pb, butterscotch, and chocolate- plus some dark chocolate m & ms. Haha oh well its delicious and just the sort of sweet I was needing.

dsci00021

I am off to go reread Confessions of a Shopaholic. I don’t remember it well enough and I just saw the trailer for the movie that is coming out and looks adorable. Have a great night!

Snacky day for me

Well I was sure in a snacky mood tonight.

But first…

Mid afternoon I had some grapes, pom seeds (under the grapes!) and herbal tea to hold me over till dinner. I also had some candy corn that is not pictured…YES we still have it in my house. Post-halloween sales are so evil!

dsci0006

Dinner was my favorite delicious old bay sweet potato fries, shake and bake chicken and a side salad. This is my ideal kind of dinner- nutritious and not too heavy!

dsci0005

Since Scott came over we spent the night on the couch watching Seinfeld, Entourage episodes and Family Guy. Which led of course to snack numero uno- more grapes and herbal tea. Now I am still munching on snack numero dos- skim milk, Annie’s Honey Bunnies, Cinnamon Life, and Quaker Oatmeal Squares in Brown Sugar. Yum!

dsci0001

I dont know why these arent posting…im tired I will try to get them up tomorrow. I won’t be here till tomorrow night since I’m at work all day on the oldest computer in the nation- I don’t even think it knows what a memory card is.

AM plan is to get on the elliptical and lift legs- then row or yoga after work. I think it is going to be a little too cold for a run. Night ❤
